The Keck Center is committed to building the future generation of excellent scientists. To enable this goal, we offer a variety of opportunities for high school and other pre-college students.
The Summer Pre-College Neuroscience Academy is a one-week program that introduces participants to research programs, projects, and techniques. Students learn about the brain and spinal cord, current research and clinical trials, and visit various labs, medical facilities, and corporate settings. The Academy is taught by senior faculty with present undergraduates sharing their research and how to get involved in a lab. (In 2024 the Academy will be July 8-12. (Watch for additional information and applications.)
A limited number of opportunities sometimes can be arranged for high school students to work in the Center during the school year. Depending on the school, arrangements may be made to receive high school credit.
The Center also arranges tours of the lab for high school classes, as well as for speakers, faculty and/or students to give presentations at high schools and other organizations.
